1 Rod Of The Pact Keeper Uncommon Dmg 1976
Let's say i have a 9 level warlock with a rod of the pact keeper +1. I cast hex on someone, using a 5th level slot, which lasts as long as i can keep my concentration (duration 24 hours). Normally i have one spellslot left. Can i use my action to activate the rod and regain the slot or should i wait for the spell to be over?
My interpetation says i can. The slot is consumed the moment i cast the spell, not the moment its duration is over.
What is your opinion on that?
Some extra questions regarding the spells duration.
It says i put a curse on someone and the spell lasts for as long as i can hold my concentration for the next 24 hours.
1)Does it matter if it is a friend or a foe?
I could possibly cast it on a tiny animal and 'sacrifice' it when the battle begins so that the curse is actice and ready whenever i want it. This way, when the battle starts, i could hit the little frog with an eldritch blast, move the curse as a bonus action to an enemy and then hit him with the second blast. When the battle would be over, assuming i didn't cast any concentration spell inbetween, i could have another frog ready to take the curse on him and keep the hex going until the next encounter of the day.
2)How long can one keep his concentration during a day?
In the related section in the phb there are 3 ways mentioned that can break ones concentration.
Casting another concentration spell, taking damage and dying (!) or being incapacitated.
It doesn't say anything for being distracted in other ways (by a beatiful prostitute in a bad-rep inn for example) or travelling for hours. You could still have that poor frog on the back of your mind and keep the hex going.
What about short rests? Would those break concentration?
